She is popular for portraying the recurring role of Marisa Sierras on the long-running show The Young and the Restless in 2015. Sofia Pernas was born in Fes, Morocco. Her father is from Spain and her mother is from Morocco. Both of her parents are multilingual. She has a Moroccan-American nationality. She has both Moroccan and Spanish heritage. Her parents moved to Orange County, Los Angeles, United States of America when she was five years old. She is fluent in German, English, Spanish, and Arabic. Sofia wanted to pursue journalism and make a career in it, as a child.

Sofia wanted a career in Journalism, but she changed her mind when she was scouted by a modelling scout. She made her career in acting and modelling. Her career began when she got her first film The Immortal Voyage of Captain Drake in 2009, where she portrayed Isabella Drake. She has been cast in more than ten titles, these include films like Age of the Dragons in 2011, Roger Corman’s Operation Rogue in 2014, Indigenous in 2014, and television series Jane the Virgin, The Brave, He Knows You Every Move in 2018, etc.
In 2011, She played the roles of Marine First Lieutenant Gabriela Flores in the series NCIS for two episodes, and Sister Lupe in Leverage.
